Soon another hopefully not too harsh or long Canadian winter will be upon us. And those nice open road summer trips just a fond but distant memory.

Here are a few tips to have a safe and trouble-free winter driving experience:

1. Pre-season Service & Inspection. Including tire checks, fluid levels, oil change, AC check, lights and wipers. Consider having a professional service these items to ensure your vehicle is in top condition for the trip. Ensure your vehicle’s lights are on and your windows/hood/roof/trunk are clear of snow and ice.
2. It’s About Being Prepared With Essentials. Having these will make the trip better for all the road warriors. An emergency kit with jumper cables, some basic tools, flashlight, batteries, blankets, gloves, winter boots, small shovel, non-perishable snacks along with some first aid supplies. Make sure your navigation is up to date, in vehicle or via phone app to make for stress free directions.
3. Tires Make For More Safety & Security. Equip your vehicle with winter tires, which provide superior grip on snow and ice compared to all-season tires. Regularly check tire pressures and tread levels too.   

Finally, travel insurance may be needed if travelling out of province or Canada. Enjoy the journey.
